Starting to pack. Traveling light, one duffel and a small backpack.
For folks badmouthing government workers, I'd like to give two thumbs up
to the folks staffing the emergency travel office. They were able to
unsnarl my travel and get me tickets in under two hours.
For folks wandting to contact me during my vacation, David Beem can be
the pivot man.
My parents will be using this address, so any queries may need to be
forwarded the first time. |

the base. It WILL crack if you force it.

Well, do travel as safely as you can, and definitely take care. Hopefully
the group will still be here when you return.
If it is not too late, what can you tell me about the 5800 service platform?
Was it operational? (It is POSTing to a solid 107 right now. I hold a
distant hope that it's just a memory problem.)
Downloaded all the Matrox Illuminator files. Going to see if I can get it
running and what it does.

Scrolling down further in the error code listing provided a ray of hope.
Memory is listed as a possibility, so I took the thing off (being careful of
the power stinger, which seems to be fine) and popped it open. "Foundt" two
SIMMs...one that looked official and one that definitely did not. I pulled
the dubious looking SIMM, put the L40 back together, put it on the 5800 and
powered up.
This time around it came up and booted into OS/2, though it was reporting a
decrease in memory size.
What a chore it is to get an L40 off the 5800 PSP! (That is, if you care
about *not* breaking anything.) Are there instructions to do it? I muddled
through it and went very slowly, which seems to have worked fine. However, I
would appreciate knowing of a better way if there is one.
I think I'll make disk images of all the diskettes in the case.
What sort of power adapter does the EMP-11 call for? I feel the urge to
start reading!

William, I gave you the power adapter, or so I thought.
Go to the NEI websight and check.

Louis, you know you owe me the pop of the push.
When you come back, there will be no escape from it.
Should you go to Sibiria, I might give you a few tips.
Take good care for yourself,
beware of candies and
do not talk to strangers. |

Yes, but I will need to know the details first. I've just the |
address to send mail to my unit that has been deployed too. For those
unaware, I am wrapping up to retire from the military soon myself.
